Draken is currently seeking fast-jet pilots for our Red Air Aggressor role, flying the AVA L-159E ‘Honey Badger’ aircraft. This exciting role is aimed at UK nationals, however we welcome applications from both UK dual-nationality and non-UK nationals, who may be eligible.
Operations are primarily focussed out of our base at Teesside International Airport, set at the centre of a flourishing area experiencing unprecedented levels of economic investment, right on the doorstep of the magnificent North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.
Type-rating training on the Honey Badger is delivered by our own training instructors and consists of ground school, flying the L-159 simulator in the Czech Republic, operational training missions and – for experienced ex-military fast-jet pilots – is completed in less than two months. Draken also proudly offers support for service leavers in gaining their CPL(A).
About you
As an experienced military fast-jet pilot, you bring a high level of personal and professional integrity to the Red Air Aggressor role, with a strong focus on aviation safety and compliance. Your leadership skills are evident both in the air and on the ground, and you excel in managing multiple tasks efficiently while prioritising safety. You thrive in dynamic situations, adapt easily, and take responsibility for your decisions and actions. Communication is a strength, enabling you to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You perform well under pressure, handle high informational loads, and welcome constructive feedback to continuously improve your performance.
Mandatory experience
In addition to the requirements below, please have your licence, medical, logbook and passport ready before applying.

Current UK CAA, FAA, EASA, or ICAO-compliant CPL(A) or ATPL(A) or ability to hold by starting date.

Current UK CAA Class 1 Medical or ability to hold by starting date.

English Language Proficiency Level 6.

Current passport with unrestricted ability to travel worldwide.

Desirable experience

Experience working for or providing services to the UK armed forces.

Have flown a military fast jet within the last 6 years.

Current instrument rating.

AUPRT certificate.

L-159 type-rating.

Hold, or have previously held a security clearance.
